Annie is based in Fremantle, West Australia and
has been working in the textile medium since 1994. The focus
of her work is “painting” with fabric and thread, utilising
the intensity and depth of the colour of silk, satin etc and
using it to produce artworks on canvas.
In these "paintings" she extends her bold use of colour in predominantly
abstract compositions.
Techniques used include applique, free-machine embroidery, hand
stitching, beading and the use of water-soluble fabrics and
heat to extend the range of surfaces produced. The themes and
inspirations her work are derived from her interest in the similarities
in emotional responses to both visual and aural stimuli – colour
and music.
