Between1990-92 John studied graphic art and
design and illustration at the Central Metropolitan College
of TAFE and then set up as a freelance Graphic Artist, successfully
tendering for and producing artwork for clients including
the Museum, Elders Weekly, Department of Fisheries and Photoplay
Australia.
In 2002 he took up painting full time to build a body of
work using acrylic on canvas, his preferred medium.
He paints the shared and personal experiences of life here
in Western Australia. Johns style is uncomplicated as he tries
to reach beyond natural appearances to create dynamic works
using strong colour and lively patterns to define light, shape
and motion.
The people in his works are depicted with humour and compassion
and reflect his lifelong interest and observance of the general
quirkiness of the human race.
