MAY 2006

Artist in Arms artist Oliver Sage and Director Fran Vos were interviewed on Saturday for Channel 31's Jon Lewis Show broadcast at nine o'clock on Tuesday evening and again at six o'clock on Friday.

Oliver talks about his up and coming 365 days exhibition (see below) and Fran gave some background information on the Artist and Arms Foundation.

Fran explained that it is the first ever Artist based charity organisation whereby artist have taken the initiative as a group to raise money for the community by exhibiting.

As the exhibition space is donated there are no gallery conditions and the artists are free to exhibit what they want. This ensures a real validity to the exhibition that is based on true expression by all the exhibiting artists.

The artists have empowered to portray themselves through their work how they want to be perceived with no prerequisites, conditions or restrictions.

Earlier in the day Oliver, Fran and Artist in Arms Director David Verryt were interviewed for a documentary being made on the Artist in Arms Foundation.

The film crew were at AinA HQ all day and were also there on Anzac day to film the artists painting the panels for the 365 days exhibition.

The Anzac Day paint in will become an annual event. Twelve painters worked on separate pieces in one room over the day.

Oliver says " It was like two years of art school. Everyone with different styles all learning from each other."

Artist Karen Blandford says "It was wicked, painting was no longer the lonely experience. There were no egos, just ideas, energy and creativity all shared.

The vibe of that day is still there in the studio and is captured in the artwork on the panels. They all sing."
