Being a non-english speaking immigrant from
Hong Kong, it was difficult to express myself in words - hence
my expressive ceramic forms.
Clay is my favourite material. I enjoy manipulating clay
with my hands and varying the surface finishing, ie subtle,
exaggerated, matt, gloss, colourful, plain, smooth or textural.
I explore the non-verbal aspects or implications of face
to face encounters. This has led to a body of work in which
the intent is to show issues through modern women's postures,
attitudes and emotions, and the transitions within gender
and culture. By creating wild, semi-surreal sculptures that
resonate with different moods, I have found the perfect way
to express my imagination. |
